Linux Foundation and CNCF Launch Cloud Native Developer Bootcamp

The Linux Foundation and the Cloud Native Computing Foundation® (CNCF®) have just announced the general availability of a cloud native developer bootcamp, a new online training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to design, build, and deploy cloud native applications in as little as six months.

As announced, the Cloud Native Developer Bootcamp is designed to help existing developers, cloud architects, and others who are new to cloud native technologies gain the skills necessary to be successful as well as to help address the ongoing shortage of qualified cloud talent.

“Adoption of cloud native technologies by organizations around the world has truly crossed the chasm, with Kubernetes being a de facto component of most technology stacks,” said Clyde Seepersad, SVP, and general manager of training & certification at The Linux Foundation.

“There is a significant shortage of cloud talent worldwide, in addition to challenges around upskilling existing professionals who are used to traditional development methodologies. This bootcamp will lower the barrier to entry for anyone interested in a cloud native development career, and will help more organizations source the talent they need to meet their digital transformation goals.”

While estimating that participates can complete the training within 6 months of 10-15 hours per week effort,  the bootcamp courses include, introduction to open source software development, git, and Linux; DevOps and site reliability engineering (SRE) Fundamentals; Kubernetes and containers for developers; Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD); and GitOps for continuous delivery on Kubernetes with Flux.

“In a short amount of time Kubernetes has quickly gone from a niche infrastructure technology to completely ubiquitous. However, building the skills needed to seamlessly work with Kubernetes and cloud native technologies can be challenging for novice technologists. Programs like this new bootcamp are imperative for developers to get up to speed with today’s technology,” said Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation.

With an unlimited 12 months access to the program, participants are to receive a verifiable certificate of completion and shareable online badge upon completion of all five courses and the CKAD exam.
