Data Centre Infrastructure Efficiency

DCiE

Inverse of PUE as a percentage. DCiE = (IT Power ÷ Total Power) × 100. Higher is better.

Full Definition

Data Centre Infrastructure Efficiency (DCiE) is the reciprocal of PUE expressed as a percentage. A DCiE of 80 % means 80 pence in every £1 spent on power actually reaches IT equipment. DCiE provides a more intuitive view of efficiency — a higher number is better — compared to PUE where a lower number is better. The two metrics are mathematically equivalent.
