Red Hat Adds New Capability to its Kubernetes Platform
Red Hat, Inc., has just announced that its OpenShift Data Foundation is now included in Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus, with the aim of bringing together data services, including software-defined storage and its Kubernetes platform into a single solution.
According to the open source solutions provider Red Hat, the OpenShift Platform Plus provides a complete, multicloud Kubernetes stack which addresses crucial needs of DevSecOps and application development professionals, while expecting that the addition of Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation will give developers a consistent data platform with persistent storage that can span clouds and infrastructure, combined with data management capabilities.
“As organizations diversify their applications to meet the evolving needs of the global economy, the need to quickly innovate at scale while still maintaining a strong IT security posture is paramount,” said Joe Fernandes, vice president and general manager, Cloud Platforms, Red Hat.
“Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus provides the innovation of Kubernetes tailored for enterprise needs, along with a broad set of additional capabilities like management, enhanced security features and now storage out of the box, answering common production requirements that basic Kubernetes services cannot address.”
As announced, the Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus comes with series of services including Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform – a consistent hybrid cloud foundation built on Kubernetes that helps developers code and deliver applications with speed, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes – help in securing software supply chains, infrastructure and workloads, as well as Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes – design for end-to-end visibility, management and control of Kubernetes clusters across a hybrid and multicloud environment.
The Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus also include Red Hat Quay – provides a scalable container registry for a consistent build pipeline that spans infrastructures with images analyzed for security vulnerabilities, identifying potential issues that can help mitigate security risks, as well as Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation Essentials – design to provide built-in cluster data management for containerized workloads, uniformly across hybrid and multicloud environments.
Red Hat stated that Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus with Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation Advanced bundle is available immediately, while customers who already have an active Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus subscription will receive OpenShift Data Foundation Essentials as part of their existing subscription at no extra cost.
