With the launch of VMware Cloud, the company is announcing new offerings that will enable more integrated operations for its customers. These offerings include VMware Cloud Universal, a subscription-based cloud offering that is expected to simplify the purchase and consumption of VMware multi-cloud infrastructure and management services.
“We are on the cusp of the next evolution of cloud and apps. Architectures are becoming distributed and increasingly multi-cloud, while modern applications will soon outnumber traditional apps. The challenge for any CIO is to take advantage of this new innovation without introducing more complexity and risk,” said Raghu Raghuram, chief operating officer, products and cloud services, VMware.
“VMware Cloud is the only cloud solution today that customers can use in the datacenter and on any cloud, accelerating their modernization journey with speed, simplicity, and better security. With VMware Cloud Universal, customers make a single purchase and gain the ability to deploy apps across any environment, then move them as business or application requirements change.”
Other offerings include the VMware Cloud Console, a single monitoring and management environment for VMware Cloud infrastructure regardless of where it’s deployed. The company also provided the VMware App Navigator as part of its new Cloud offering which enables the assessment and prioritization of app transformation initiatives across an application estate.
“AWS is VMware’s preferred public cloud provider for vSphere-based workloads, and VMware Cloud on AWS is the preferred service from AWS for vSphere-based workloads,” said Matt Garman, vice president, sales and marketing, AWS.
“Customers love how fast and easy it is to adopt a VMware-based hybrid environment that spans their on-premises data centers and AWS. We are seeing significant global adoption across all industries from customers who are adopting VMware Cloud on AWS to enable faster application modernization. With this announcement, customers have the ability to use the same VMware Universal Credits towards the deployments of VMware Cloud on AWS as well as VMware on premises.”
With VMware Cloud, the company’s customers can now deploy apps to VMware Cloud Foundation running in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Oracle Cloud; on VMware Cloud on Dell EMC; and across other VMware Cloud Verified partners.
